Triumph over Darkness by Wendy Ann Wood |
I was impressed with the cover page so I picked this book from the online Flipkart e-books store.
I read this book within one week. This book might not be appealing to everyone. I , you and everyone have so many memories and it is really important to understand them. The first thing you will learn after reading this book is:
You are not alone!!
Sometimes you have this unknown fear, which creeps from inside and covers your whole world. You have no idea, what it really is, and surely you want to get it out or, out of it. The ultimate goal of a human is to be happy, continuously!
The future is still to come and all you have is a past full of memories and then surprisingly present slips into the past too. This past can affect our present if some issues are left behind unresolved. When our feelings and desires are suppressed by someone, forcefully! either, physically or emotionally.
Those suppressed emotions instead of getting expression through our words or actions, are folded back into some corner of our mind or our body. Once they are suppressed, it is hard that they will ever get their expression out.
Every time they want to come out, you will suppress them by yourself due to some imposed social fear, or an imposed and learned pattern, printed in your sub-conscious mind. This fear becomes your personal fear and may become an anxiety which will do nothing but may further harm your personality.
So what to do???
Well! While I am writing this post about this book, I will tell you that I had no idea or had very little idea before reading this book. After reading this book, I have concluded that forgetting is never a solution.
This is same as to cover your face with a mask instead of washing it with a soap to get the dirt off. I think there are two things you can do to make your life better:
(1) First read this book,
(2) Know all of your past.
Remember all the things which might have happened to you, which you accepted as they happened
and felt that it was all your fault. If you don't remember and then go and sit alone, or go and sit with everyone who was linked with you and can tell you everything that happened.
Once you remember all the things, go and sit on the chair of the judge of a court room in your mind. Now put that past you on one side and the offender on the other side. Weight the two sides, and conclude the court with the most fair judgement.
(3) If you still find your self guilty then go and ask sorry to the person in real, and if you find the other person guilty, go and tell that person(if alive) that why you think that he/she was guilty.
You may ask some kind of apology from that person. Abusing is not wise, but if that makes you happy, you should do that, and the other thing is that you may forgive that person if you think that you should do that.
If there is a wound in your soul, you have to heal it instead of covering it. This is what I learned from this book, and I think it was really a very nice read.
Author who is a lady has covered numbers of stories, which might be hard to read for the weak heart people and might cause pain, but closing your eyes do not alter/change the truth.
There are guidelines offered by the Author to the victims, and then there are guidelines which are laid to the partners/supporters of the victims.
This book mostly covers the cases of the sexual abuse, and I think this is a must read for everyone especially for ladies because, today such cases are everywhere and one must know what are the results and how to handle them.
